Skroutz product photos

On Skroutz you are a thumbnail in a row of identical thumbnails

Comparison shopping puts your product next to the same product from nine other shops, at the same price, at thumbnail size. The photograph is one of the few things you control.

Sized and staged for Skroutz

Skroutz product photos

Skroutz is a comparison engine before it is a shop, and that changes what a photograph is for. On Etsy the image sells the object. On Skroutz the object is often identical across every listing, and the image sells the seller.

A clean, correctly lit, consistent photograph reads as a shop that has its affairs in order. A dim phone snap next to nine clean ones reads as the cheapest option in the worst sense.

For own-brand products the calculation is different again: there you are the only source of the image, and whatever you upload becomes how that product looks on the platform permanently.

Why your photos are costing you sales

Thumbnail size punishes everything. A busy background becomes noise, a dark image becomes a grey square, and an off-centre crop makes the product look smaller than the one next to it.

The listings that win the click are boringly consistent: product centred, plenty of margin, plain light background, correct colour. None of that requires a studio; all of it requires the same setup twice.

It has to still be your item

You do not need to beat nine competitors on photography. You need to not be the one that looks careless, and that is a fixed background, a fixed light and a fixed crop applied to everything you list.

  • The same background and crop across every listing, automatically
  • Correct colour, so what arrives matches what was shown
  • Legible at thumbnail size, which is the only size that matters here
  • Greek listings and export listings from one photograph

Questions people ask before they sign up

Does Skroutz require a white background?
Requirements vary by category and by how you are integrated, and they change. Check the current merchant documentation for your category. A plain light background is the safe default regardless, because it survives thumbnail size.
Can I reuse the manufacturer's photos?
For resold goods that is common practice, but everyone else is doing it too, so the images do nothing to distinguish you. Your own photograph of the actual stock is the only version a competitor cannot also upload.
What matters most at thumbnail size?
Contrast between the product and the background, generous margin, and the product centred. Fine detail is invisible at that size and styling is mostly wasted.
