Indie cosmetics and skincare
The bottle is the brand. Photograph it like it.
Serums, balms and oils live or die on how the packaging reads at thumbnail size. Get twenty variants of one bottle without booking a studio for each launch.

Skincare is one of the few categories where the customer cannot try the product before buying and cannot really judge it afterwards either. What they can judge, instantly, is whether the bottle looks like something that belongs in their bathroom.
That puts the entire weight of the sale on the packaging shot. And unlike most categories, you do not need one — you need dozens. A hero for the listing, a flat-lay for the grid, a vertical for stories, and a fresh set every time you test an ad. Studios price per shoot; the ad account wants variants weekly.
Why your photos are costing you sales
The label is the hardest part, and it is the part most tools ruin. Text on a bottle is small, curved and often foil-stamped, which is precisely the combination an image model will cheerfully rewrite into something that looks like words from a distance and is gibberish up close.
That is not a cosmetic problem when the label carries your ingredient list, your volume and your brand name. It is a product photo of a product you do not sell.
The scenes that suit your work
A handful chosen for what you sell, out of the full library.
It has to still be your item
Altered label text and restyled packaging are both named explicitly in the instruction that runs on every image, alongside the object itself. Your bottle keeps its shape, its colour, its finish and its printed text.
If you have a regulated ingredient list on the back, photograph that face too and it is preserved the same way. What moves is the surface it sits on and the light falling across it.
- Label text and volume markings stay exactly as printed
- Twenty ad variants from one bottle, without a studio day per launch
- Soft pastel and gradient backgrounds that suit skincare without looking like everyone else
- Vertical crops for stories and TikTok from the same shot

Questions people ask before they sign up
- Will my label text stay readable and correct?
- Yes. Altered label text is one of the failure modes named explicitly in the negative instruction sent with every image, because a rewritten ingredient list is a product you cannot legally ship.
- Can I generate ad variants at scale?
- That is the common use here. Pick several scenes at once and they generate together from the same bottle photographs, which keeps the product identical across a whole test set.
- What about droppers, pumps and other fiddly parts?
- They are part of the object and preserved with it. Photograph the bottle assembled the way you sell it.
- Does it work for refill pouches and soft packaging?
- Yes, though soft packaging photographs best filled rather than flat, since the shape is part of what a buyer is judging.

Photographing clear and frosted glass
Transparent packaging has no surface of its own to photograph. What you are really lighting is the background, the edges and the liquid.

Building an ad creative set from one bottle
Paid social eats creative faster than any studio can produce it. The constraint is not ideas, it is that every variant needs a new photograph.

Photographing labels so the text stays readable
Small type on a curved bottle is the hardest thing on your product to photograph, and the one thing regulators care about.
