Product photography in Athens
What a product photographer in Athens costs — and when you need one
A half-day studio shoot in Athens is a serious line in a small budget, and for a launch it is worth every euro. For the forty items you add over the next year it is not, and this page is about that gap.

Athens has the deepest pool of commercial photographers in Greece, which is genuinely good news: you can find someone excellent for almost any category, from jewellery to food to furniture. It also means the market is priced like a capital city.
A typical commercial shoot is quoted as a half or full day, and the day rate is only part of it. Studio hire, an assistant, a stylist for food or apparel, props, and post-production are usually separate lines. Add a return visit when three new products arrive in March and the arithmetic stops working for a catalogue that keeps moving.
None of that is a criticism of photographers. It is a description of how shoots are priced, and shoots are priced that way because that is what they cost to produce.
Why your photos are costing you sales
The problem with a shoot is not the price. It is the shape.
A shoot is a lump: you pay once, you get a set of images, and from that day the set slowly stops matching what you sell. A colourway arrives and has no photograph. A best seller gets a new label and the old picture is now wrong. Six months later half the catalogue is photographed properly and half is on a phone against a kitchen wall, and the shop looks like two businesses.
That mismatch is what customers actually notice. Not the quality of any single image — the fact that the grid does not hold together.

It has to still be your item
Hire the photographer for the things that need one. A brand campaign, a hero image for the homepage, anything with a person in it, anything where the concept matters more than the object — those are jobs for someone with a studio and an eye, in Athens or anywhere.
Use this for the other ninety per cent: the new colourway, the restock, the seasonal variant, the fortieth item in a catalogue that will change again before the year is out. You photograph it on your phone in the workshop and it comes back staged, consistent with everything else you have.
- No studio hire, no travel across Athens traffic, no scheduling around anyone else
- A new product photographed the day it is finished, not the next time you book
- Every image matches the ones before it, because the setting is fixed rather than remembered
- Greek and English listings from the same photograph

Questions people ask before they sign up
- What does a product photographer in Athens actually charge?
- Commercial work is normally quoted per half or full day rather than per image, with studio hire, styling and retouching as separate lines. Rates vary widely by category and experience, so ask for a written quote that names what is included — particularly how many final images you receive and whether reshoots are covered.
- Is this a replacement for a photographer?
- No, and it is not sold as one. It replaces the second, third and fortieth shoot — the repeat catalogue work that a studio day is a poor unit for. For a campaign, a person in frame, or a concept-led image, hire someone.
- Do I still need to take a good photo?
- You need an accurate one. Sharp, well lit enough that the colour and texture are visible, and showing the object as it really is. The setting, the background and the lighting are what get replaced.
- Will the images be usable on Skroutz and Etsy?
- Yes. There are scenes for pure-white marketplace requirements as well as styled and lifestyle settings, and you can produce several from one photograph.
