The same scene, three different objects — because what you make is not what anyone else makes.

Old stone

Rough sunlit limestone with a crisp shadow — hard southern light, and unmistakably Mediterranean.

Bright hard sun on rough limestone or whitewashed stone, with a crisp shadow and a wall that is old, uneven and warm. Nothing softened. The light is dry and high-contrast, because that is what southern light is.

For a Greek maker this is the scene that says where the thing comes from without writing it, and origin is often the whole premium — olive oil, honey, ceramics, woven goods, anything sold to somebody taking it home from a holiday. It is wrong for anything that wants to look clinical or contemporary.

Send a plain reference indoors. The wall and the sun are ours to build; a photograph taken against a real wall at noon arrives with blown highlights that cannot be recovered.
